Hot pots have been around forever in Eastern cultures, consisting of a simmering metal pot of stock at the center of the dining table. While the hot pot is kept simmering, ingredients are placed into the pot and are cooked at the table. While this hot pot was created at the stove, it still keeps its name.
This fragrant and tasty broth resembles a mild, Thai curry with lemongrass and lime simmering in rich coconut milk. You can add whatever meat or firm fish suits you in this recipe. I used some delicious, wild caught rock shrimp, thinly sliced chicken, and some canned sockeye salmon in this one. Coconut milk used in this recipe is a great cream or milk alternative and adds a smooth creaminess without the allergy or lactose issues.
Coconut milk, especially the full fat kind, is full of nutrients and healthy fats, as well as vitamins, minerals and electrolytes, including potassium, calcium and chloride.
The saturated fat in coconut milk is primarily a medium-chain fatty acid that is immediately used for energy and not stored as fat. And this kind of saturated fat is healthy and good for you and will not contribute to heart disease.
Coconut milk also contains a substance called lauric acid, which is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal and helps to boost the immune system.
Serve with Brown rice or quinoa. Enjoy!! Click this article to view full recipe...
Proposed law prevents children from doing farm chores
By Patrick Richardson 1:31 AM 04/25/2012 April 26, 7:55 p.m.: Citing public outrage, the Department of Labor has withdrawn the controversial rulemaking proposal described in this article.
A proposal from the Obama administration to prevent children from doing farm chores has drawn plenty of criticism from rural-district members of Congress. But now it’s attracting barbs from farm kids themselves. The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families’ land. Is Your Soda Habit Killing You?

If you're still drinking soda, there's not much else I can say at this point. You don't have to be a regular Dose reader to know this stuff is bad for you, and you'd have to have a hole in your head to think it's actually good.
Hopefully, your head is intact and you know it's bad. And now, a new study spells out just ONE of the many ways soda can doom you to an early, bubbly grave.
In this one, researchers found that men who have even one soda or other sugar-sweetened drink a day have a 20 percent higher risk of a heart attack than those who don't drink this liquid junk.
Two daily drinks boosted the risk by 42 percent, and three caused it to shoot up by 69 percent.
Sugary drinks also boosted levels of C-reactive protein, an inflammation marker that's a far more reliable indicator of heart risk than the LDL levels your own doc obsesses over.
The study in Circulation was on men, but there's no reason to think it won't apply to women as well. After all, you don't have to be a cardiologist to know why soda will stop your heart.
It's the sugar.
Sugar is just about the worst thing you could pump into your body. And after your teeth, there's no part of your body that's more quickly ruined by it than your heart. Drink this stuff every day, and eventually it'll stop your heart colder than a refrigerator pack of cola.
Throw in the fact that soda -- and sugar -- will swell your belly, rot your brain, and even damage your bones, and you've got no reason to ever go near this stuff.
I know some of you will anyway. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
Taking out the fizz,

Simple Advice – Give yourself to God. He can do more with you and for you than you ever thought possible. O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8 The older I get, the more I realize this to be true. And yet, I still have trouble giving myself entirely over to God. Even though I know God is able to take me higher and farther than I could ever imagine, I am reluctant to turn over full control of my life. I guess simple advice is not always easy to follow. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10 Kit Pharo Pharo Cattle Co. How to increase productivity
BY GLADDMD ON THURSDAY, APRIL 12, 2012When Richard Branson (founder of Virgin Group) was asked in an interview what advice he would give to those who want to be more productive, his answer was completely unpredictable: “Work out”. So true, I started a new workout regimen this morning with a personal trainer so that I don't just rely on myself to reach the intensity, proper form and frequency I want in my workouts. Today, I have been particularly energetic, focused and looking to come up with new creative projects. Why isn't this the default then? Carving out the time to exercise and push ourselves to enhance our health and productivity. We find road blocks constantly: An extra hour of sleep, a TV show, or spend time on the computer. Maybe the accountability factor of working with a trainer will help you. Maybe it's simply finding a friend to meet you for a walk or workout. Regardless of what gets you exercising regularly, schedule it in your calendar and get started soon. Your creativity and productivity will help you forget about that extra hour of sleep.
Homocysteine: The Amino Acid that Causes Heart Disease
If you truly want to enjoy vibrant health and active longevity it's vital that you identify and eliminate the underlying CAUSES of illness... rather than simply treating the symptoms. For many years, mainstream medicine has focused on "high cholesterol" as a cause of heart disease. This is not true. At best, elevated cholesterol levels are a symptom of the disease.
On the other hand, inflammation could be considered a cause of heart disease. But even that doesn't tell the whole story, because inflammation is also a symptom of something else.

15 Tasty Snacks That Satisfy And Don't Blow Your Diet
One of the toughest things to do when you are trying to stick to a healthy diet is figuring out what to eat when you want a snack. Most of us don't want to have to fix some elaborate dish which requires a lot of preparation and ingredients, but we don't want to resort to grabbing some processed, unhealthy, fattening snack in a bag or box either, just because it's easy. So the dilemma?
